Background Remover

About the Background Remover Tool

This tool uses an artificial intelligence model to remove backgrounds from images. ShareX itself does not include these models, as they would significantly increase the installer's size. Therefore, you must first download a model before you can use this feature.

Model Download Instructions

Our tests indicate that thebria-rmbg-2.0.onnxprovides the most effective results.

For easy access, all available background removal models are listed on therembg model downloadspage.

To install a model, follow these steps:

  1. Within ShareX, open theTools -> Background remover.
  2. Next to the Modelswindow. Then, click the folder icon to open the models folder.
  3. Download an .onnxDownload a model using one of the links mentioned above and place the file directly into this folder.
  4. Go back to the background remover, then click the refresh icon located next to theModels list.
  5. From the available list, choose the downloaded model.

Important: These models are sourced from external providers, and their individual license terms may differ.

How to Remove a Background

  1. Click Browsethen pick an image.
  2. Pick both a model and the device for processing.Autois the best choice for most individuals.
  3. Click Remove Background.
  4. Review the outcome, then click the button.Save or Save as.
